Daniel, a jewelry maker well versed in traditional methods for lacemaking, combines her two interests in this collection of lace-inspired jewelry projects. The introduction discusses the basics of lace--cordonnets, figures, and ground--and describes the beadweaving stitches that can be used to translate these elements to beaded jewelry. A series of projects, with styles ranging from delicate to bold, follows. A surprising number of the projects are appropriate for beginners, and the clear instructions, including diagrams, are helpful. Most of the designs use multiple beadweaving stitches, for which Daniel provides simple guidance. VERDICT Lacy designs aren't uncommon in beadweaving, but Daniel's approach--which comes from traditional lace--is unique, and her designs are strikingly beautiful.
