The sweet, funny story of a dachshund puppy who learns it is fine to be different from her piglet siblings. There was a different sort of piglet in the pigpen one cool spring morning. Mama loves all her piglets the same even though one develops characteristics making her unlike the others. Named Penny, she starts to grow longer and makes "unusual" noises and digs with her paws rather than her snout--just to give a few clues as to her species. And one day, all the piglets realize how wonderful it is to have a peculiar pig in the family. Moore keeps the story moving along such that young listeners will be eager to solve the Penny-the-piglet mystery themselves. Moore's crisp enunciation and hint of humor enliven the story.
