Also included: real-world @urbanjungleblog followers' FAQs; a section on plants and pets; and plant care for the different stages of a houseplant's life. The coauthors of Urban Jungle offer a full-color coffee-table book featuring a variety of plants and the people who love them. Plant lovers will find suggestions on which varieties are best for various styles of homes and apartments, family structures, and parts of the world. There are even plant suggestions based on one's astrological sign. Chapters include "Love Your Plants" (tips on bonding with greenery and making sure they are pet-friendly), "Well-being with Plants" (the benefits of slow living), and "Helping Your Plants Survive Your Vacation." Also featured is a room-by-room plant guide, including the benefits of "sleeping with plants." "Recipes for Botanical Joy" is a playful section with simple ideas such as adding googly eyes to plants and creating "plant portraits" suitable for framing. The resource list is thorough and provides U.S. and worldwide contacts and organizations. Unfortunately, an index is not provided. VERDICT An enjoyable guide for beginners and experienced green thumbs alike.--Beth Bland, Milwaukee
